The drama with the Women's DII College Championship rages on. As of last night, Stony Brook University was set to replace Rutgers, which was eliminated after the team was caught drinking on campus, during the Round of 16 at Princeton, N.J., this weekend.

Our reaction was a combination of excitement, disbelief and panic about the amount of paperwork we have to complete," Stony Brook coach Jon Isles told RUGBYMag.com. "As for our goals this weekend we haven't toned down training this spring, the girls are fitter and more experienced than last fall. We intend to play solid fundamental rugby for 80 minutes."
But word from USA Rugby indicates that Stony Brook wasn't able to pull off the last-minute trip.
Now, only hours away from team check-ins, it's impossible for a team to fill Rutgers' vacated seed to nationals.
USA Rugby Communications Manager Jarrod Beckstrom confirmed that Norwich - Rutgers' first-round opponent - will receive a bye through the Round of 16. The Cadets will face the winner of American International College and Vassar in the Round of 8 on Sunday, and no consolation game will be contested.
