After last weekend's round of territorial playoffs, the women's DI and DII college divisions are two weekends away from solidifying the national sweet 16s. Below is an update of the matchups that will occur on April 16-17 for DII and April 29-30 for DI.

In Division I, the winner of Pool A will play the winner of Pool D in the semifinals, while winner of Pool C will play the winner of Pool D.

The Mid-Atlantic will determine its three seeds this weekend, with Penn State v Navy and Virginia v Maryland semifinals occuring on Saturday. Penn State should come away with the MARFU championship, but Navy's 64-0 shutout in the quarterfinals indicates that the team is finding its footing around returning coach Sue Parker. Maryland put in an impressive performance against Virginia in mid-March, losing 29-27 in the closing seconds, but history is on UVA's side and the Virginia team should advance to the final. We're picking a PSU, UVA, Navy, UMD finish.

The South also contests its championship this weekend. North Carolina exited with playin spot last weekend and will take on Clemson. UNC had beat Clemson 50-0 last fall, but then played Georgia (a team Clemson tied 0-0 during league) to a 10-5 win over the weekend. East Carolina will take on Central Florida, and the jury's still out on who's the favorite in this match-up. ECU gets the nod simply because they've beaten reigning South champ UNC twice this year, but there's no telling what Raoul Besse's squad will bring to the table.

The Pacific Coast will contest its championship on April 15-16 at Stanford. The playins last weekend produced the expected results, with BYU and Chico State moving on to the territorial semifinals. It's always interesting to see how the Cougars enter playoffs considering their lack of local competition, but their 106 points over California and CSU proved their ever-potent backline is still one of the best in the country. BYU will play UC Davis in the semifinals, while Chico will take on Stanford. When the latter played during league, Chico lost 17-5, but the Cardinal have been warming up against Women's Premier club Berkeley (19-15 loss) and should hit the championship games running. Expect another BYU v Stanford showdown.

In Division II, Southern California is the only region waiting to name its representative. Fortunately for the winner, the team won't have to travel far since Pool A is playing in San Diego. It'll likely come down to this weekend when leaders Claremont and CSU Fullerton go toe to toe. Fullerton won the team's first meeting 7-5, but that was early in the season. If Claremont wins, they're in; if CSUF wins with a bonus point, then they're into nationals. If CSUF wins without the bonus point, resulting in a tie in points, then the team will have win or earn a bonus-point loss against winless Occidental.
