Midwest Women Serious About 7s
Clubs - Women's Clubs

Last year the Midwest couldn't muster a team for the national club 7s championship, but 2012 is a different story. The territory has taken a more serious approach to summer 7s this year, and will send two teams to club nationals in early August.

The two seeds will be determined by highest point total accrued over three qualifiers: Firehouse 7s (June 23, Chicago), Lakefront 7s (June 30, Milwaukee) and Rock Hard 7s (Grand Rapids, MI).

Kate Daley was instrumental in organizing the Midwest 7s series.

"We encouraged teams to recruit from as many places as possible or combine teams in one city to get as many participants," Daley said. "That being said, there are competitive teams in Chicago (Northshore based), Detroit, Minneapolis (Youngbloodz) and Madison. Milwaukee and Ann Arbor attempted to put teams together but are struggling a bit with numbers."

Milwaukee will be absent from tomorrow's Firehouse 7s, but CARFU has entered a side to fill out the six-team division. Expect Chicago North Shore to advance to the final. The current DI club champion has active 7s players in Pam Kosanke, Jenny Lui and Daley, and are the most dangerous team in the region.

Stay tuned for tournament results and player/coach feedback.
