The first week of the Women's Premier League has ended, and two very different stories have played out in each division. Tightly contested matches evolved in the red conference, while the blue conference victors put double digits between them and their oppoents. In the red conference, Berkeley mounted a closing-minutes comeback to edge San Diego 20-17. Glendale maintained their seven-point lead established at halftime to defeat New York 29-22 and earn their first WPL victory in their inaugural season. In the blue conference, the DC Furies were far and away the most successful on offense, racking up an intimidating 82 points to Keystone's 12. Last year's championship finalist, Twin Cities Amazons, put a convincing win in the books, defeating visiting Beantown 38-14.
