The Eagles got on the board in the second minute of the second half via a Colin Hawley try, converted by Shalom Suniula, to pull to within three at 10-7, but South Africa put the difference back out to two scores when Tshotsho Mbovane dotted down minutes later. The conversion was missed, making it 15-7 to South Africa.

Carlin Isles, who subbed on earlier in the second half, made his presence felt with a try to keep the Eagles in the hunt in the 13th minute. Suniula converted, making it 15-14, but Stephan Dippenaar ended the contest with a converted try at full time.
