Eagles Move to Bowl Semis
Sevens - USA Sevens Men

The Eagles bagged their second-straight win over Zimbabwe Saturday on the second day of the Nelson Mandela Bay 7s, advancing to the Bowl Semifinals with a 26-0 victory.

Zimbabwe started the game with possession, but the Eagles received a free kick off of a lineout, and they worked the ball through a few phases to Peter Tiberio, who caught it within five meters of the try line and dotted down for the first score of the game. Shalom Suniula converted, putting the Eagles up 7-0.

USA regained possession after forcing a knock, and Mark Bokhoven splits two defenders, seemingly scared of taking on the big Iowan one-one-one, and raced to the corner for the score. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the Americans up 12-0 at halftime.

The Eagles opened the second half with a long, impressive possession, but lost it when Nick Edwards was caught just steps outside of pay dirt and knocked on in the tackle. Presure at the ensuing scrum forced Zimbabwe into touch, giving the Americans the ball back. After swinging it across the pitch and winning another scrum, off of a Zimbabwe knock on, Tiberio sliced through the defense at short range for USA's third try, putting them up 19-0.

Zach Test added the next five-pointer after taking a switch from reserve Duncan Kelm, the benefactor of a line-bnreaking run by fellow reserve Folau Niua, giving the Eagles the 26-0 win.

The Eagles await the winner of Canada vs. Morocco.
