Komongnan was named our Canterbury NZ Player of the Month for August. Photo by Dobson Images NOVA scrumhalf/wing PJ Komongnan has joined the USA 7s team in South Africa. He returns to the Eagle 7s team after a two-season hiatus.

Komongnan, who was one of the last players cut before final selections at the last camp, is coming in to replace Jason Pye, who is injured. There remains some question whether Marco Barnard, who missed much of the Dubai 7s after suffering an injury in the first game, will be available, and Komongnan can provide cover for both players.

"PJ plays both scrumhalf and wing, and we need that versatility," said USA 7s Head Coach Al Caravelli.
