The semifinals are set, and they're what was to be expected.

Life (USA Rugby College 7s National Champions), Dartmouth (defending CRC champions), Arizona (with the only capped Eagle in the tournament) and venerable Cal are all still alive.

One semifinal will pit some brilliant individuals together, with Life's Cam Dolan perhaps meeting his physical match in Arizona's Brett Thompson.

Colton Cariaga, Joe Cowley and Jake McFadden, all really good individuals in their own right, have the unenviable task of trying to bottle up Peter Tiberio, whose likeness covers about 30 rows of seating at PPL Park on a banner.

The other semifinal matches up maybe the two most disciplined teams in the event. Cal runs a defined, structured pattern, and Dartmouth does the same.

With everyone knowing where to be when, and what the smart plays are, the difference could well be which individual player makes the extra brilliant play. Will it be Cal's Brad Harrington or Seamus Kelly? Dartmouth's Madison Hughes or Derek Fish?

The NBC cameras and the thousands on hand in Philadelphia should be treated to some enthralling semifinals.
