SFGG defeated OMBAC 47-27 in San Diego Saturday in a preseason friendly for both teams.

John Thomas notches three tries for the visitors from the Bay Area, while OPeti Okusi was also outstanding.

Both teams were working in some younger players, and for SFGG they saw 18year-old Brendan Hardiman make his debut. Also playing, back from some time overseas, was former St. Mary’s All American Brendan O’Meara.

SFGG Head Coach Paul Keeler was pleased with the opening.

“It was a tough game to win,” Keeler said. “OMBAC was impressive turning us over as much as they did, but having a strong core who played together got us through for the win.”
