The Olympic Club is not new to 7s, as the Winged-O was a mainstay at 7s Nationals throughout much of the this century’s first decade. But O-Club hasn’t been back to Nationals since 2008. That streak could well end this summer, with a new coach and a batch of young players trying to put the club back on the 7s map.

The Woodlands Exiles exploded onto the national 7s scene last summer as a team created out of thin air with Canadian internationals, former Life players, a sprinkling of Texas talent and a former NFL running back. This summer, the Exiles intend to compete again for a National Championship, but with almost an entirely different roster.

It was nearly four and a half years ago when Kieran Crowley addressed his first Canadian team on a patchy soccer pitch in Kanata, in Ottawa's west end.  It was his inaugural training session in Canada - after a lifetime of involvement with the New Zealand All Blacks and provincial rugby in his native country.  That day, he may have wondered if he had gotten more than he bargained for.

Tony Pacheco has been named the USA Rugby All American 7s Coach.

Pacheco helped coach Central Washington to two Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference 7s titles, as well as an LVI title in 2011, a 4th place finish in the 2011 CRC, and a 2nd place finish in the USA Rugby national tournament.

Pacheco will coach the team at the USA trials this summer.
