Kansas City, Mo. - The Omaha G.O.A.T.S. Rugby team traveled to Kansas City to play in the annual Midnight 7s tournament at the Kansas City Soccer Dome, hosted by the Kansas City Rogues Rugby Club.
The GOATS were pooled with Northland (Kansas City) and the Sioux Falls Crow (South Dakota), and came away with tfirst place.
The GOATS faced Northland (Kansas City) first defeating them 34-0, then took on the Sioux Falls Crow and won 52-0. After pool play all 10 teams in the tournament were bracketed based on their performance in pool play and the GOATS took on the Sioux Falls Crow in the first round (quarterfinals) and defeated them again with a score of 35-5, then took down the team from Pittsburg (Kansas) and defeated them 48-0 in the semifinals.
In the final, the GOATS faced the Sioux City Swine of Iowa, and shut them out 32-0. GOATS sevens captain, Kyle Barger was named the championship’s MVP as he led a dominating performance that saw the GOATS allow only five points in the entire tournament while scoring 205.
