Men DII College Top 25 Feb 1, 2010

(Black-eyed Arizona State looks to take down improving Loyola this month. Alex Goff Photo)

The Men’s DII college rankings continue to challenge all our powers of observation and judgment. The number of leagues and competitions is so large that it remains a major task to separate the very good from the merely good.

This is the first DII rankings of 2010, and we expand it top a Top 30, as we’re not fully sure who should be where just yet. We have a few big games coming – North Texas v. Texas Tech for example.

February 21’s Loyola v. Arizona State match will be a clash, also. We fully expect these rankings to change significantly before April is over. (These rankings we slightly adjusted at the bottom due to confusion over which teams are in what division. Given that teams in the South mix divisions,)

NC State does look dangerous. GA Tech just beat Kennesaw State this past weekend, good game with very different styles. KSU owned all scrums and lineouts but G Tech can kick 40 meters into the wind, points and touch. As of now looks like G-Tech vs Eckerd and KSU vs USF in first round South tourney.

Eckerd and South Florida are the only South teams? There are 3 other D2 conferences in the South, you know. NC State is as dangerous as any, leading a league with 3 D1 teams, and Kennesaw State and Georgia Tech are playing at *least* as well as Eckerd and USF. What a joke (as always).

Helen Keller could've picked someone out of a lineup better than this!

In the south keep an eye on Kennesaw State, 3-0 and just beat Georgia Southern.

Why is there a picture of a high school game at the top of this article?

Question is Georgetown that good this year, have not seen them play yet. I am sure the ranking will change alot after MARFU.

How there are only 2 South teams, I'll never understand. I'd reckon Georgia Tech, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, and NC State all deserve consideration. In fact, I'll be so bold as to predict that Georgia Tech and NC State/App State will be the 2 South seeds at Nationals.

Eckerd? Should they really be ranked higher than Walgreens? I think it's good that Alex puts some teams on here that really have no business being here...it gives them some confidence and pride in their programs.

I think this list will change significantly. Temple, VMI, Mary Washington...please.

Tell us how you really feel Sharkrugger! I think that Alex made it very clear that this is just a starting point, so you might want to tone down some of your vitriol.

Absolute garbage. Radford did not even make the playoffs, so how can they be 20? Salisbury lost to Gtown by 8 points in the PRU final and are number 24? And then JMU, VMI, and Mary Wash all together? I'm sorry no one visited the site in the offseason, but don't post bad rankings to draw traffic.
