The 2012 USA Rugby Sports Medicine Symposium, to take place between February 9-10, 2012 in Las Vegas, is a can't miss opportunity for medical professionals and anyone else dedicated to keeping rugby players safe and healthy. Industry leaders will share their expertise and gear their presentations towards the newest Olympic sport, rugby. USA Rugby team doctor, Dr. David Chao, who is also the team doctor for the San Diego Chargers, has said that “This (the USA Rugby Sports Medicine Symposium) is a one of a kind conference dedicated to the care of rugby players. It is a must attend for medical professionals interested in the care of ruggers.” Chao has a star-studded list of patients including Todd Clever, Travis Pastrana, Phillip Rivers, Tony Hawk, Junior Seau, and Drew Brees.
Chao will present at this year's medical symposium on the most recent studies and practices regarding head injures. His fellow speakers include Dr. Christopher Kaeding and Dr. Thomas Best. Best and Kaeding are the co-directors of the Ohio State University Sports Medicine Center, the nation's leader in sports medicine.
Also speaking at the conference is Mark Lovell (Ph.D, FACPN) Chairman and CEO of ImPACT Applications, Inc. Lovell founded the neuropsychological testing programs for the National Football League (NFL) and is currenty a consultant to the NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also oversees the neuropsychological testing for the WWE and the U.S. Ski Team.
