7s and 6 Nations on Universal This Weekend

Los Angeles – Universal Sports Network showcases the world’s best rugby this weekend with the IRB Sevens World Series in Wellington, New Zealand and the start of the highly anticipated 2013 Six Nations Championships. Coverage from Wellington begins LIVE online Friday, February 1 at 6:55 PM ET, and kicks off Universal Sports’ rugby action on Sunday, February 3 at 3:00 PM ET. Also on Sunday, Wales faces Ireland in the first match of the Six Nations at 7:00 PM ET followed by England vs. Scotland at 10 PM ET.

At the Sevens World Series, DJ Forbes captains the current leaders and famed New Zealand All Blacks Sevens team on their home turf. Led by Matt Hawkins, Team USA’s Eagles are ahead of England, Spain and Scotland in the standings and look to add more points before hosting next weekend’s Sevens tournament in Las Vegas.

Universal Sports will televise 15 matches of the 2013 Six Nations Championship starting with this Sunday’s matches. With more than 130 years of history, the Six Nations is one of the oldest and most heralded rugby competitions in the world, and is contested by England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. In 2012, Wales won the championship with a victory over France led by the heroic efforts of winger Alex Cuthbert.
