Rugby Players Help Fight Fire
Off The Field - People

Some men playing rugby in Frances Weisbart Jacobs Park in the Denver area for an as-yet unidentified club left their game Wednesday evening to help evacuate people from a burning building.

According to the Denver Post, firefighters were able to stop the fire from engulfing the entire building. The rugby players ushered people out of the building and attempted to fight the fire with fire extinguishers.

Denver fire spokesman Phil Champagne said "we don't recommend people going into a burning building but at the end of the day, it was a job well done."

Update - this was the Denver Rugby 7s team (Denver Highlanders and Queen City). Head Coach Nigel Smith called 911.
