Oklahoma made it two-for-two Saturday, winning its second Allied 7s tournament in as many tries in College Station, Texas. The Sooners again went 4-0, giving them an overall 7s record of 8-0 this fall.
Oklahoma conceded an average of just one try a game, while averaging over 33 points per.
“I am proud to be a Sooner. I am even more proud of my team and coach with this second tournament win,” said Oklahoma captain Michael Al-Jiboori of his new coach Jason Horowitz, who has injected the program with vigor since taking over this summer.
“We fight hard, train hard and play hard, and the results are being seen every day. I am grateful to have coach this year, and I am with him all the way. I am all in. It’s been our motto from the beginning, and it will continue to be.”
Oklahoma will be the team to beat when they host the Allied Championship tournament October 12 in Norman, Okla. The winner of that event claims an automatic berth to USA Rugby’s College 7s National Championships.
