Boulder, Colo.-- The 40 teams that will take part in the 2012 Emirates Airlines USA Rugby College Sevens National Championship have been determined. In total, 24 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams will be squaring off Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 in College Station, Texas at the Texas A&M University Campus. The weekend will crown USA Rugby’s College 7s National Champions in this second annual tournament.
The men’s and women’s teams will be divided into four pools each, and will include the defending National Champions Life University (Men’s) and Norwich University (Women’s). Men’s and women’s pools will be announced on Monday, Nov. 19 and Tuesday, Nov. 20, respectively.
This tournament will serve as an opportunity for over 600 student-athletes to showcase their skills for All-American and National Team selectors, who will have an eye on the talent coming through the college ranks.
With the inclusion of rugby sevens in the Olympics, many of the student-athletes who will compete in the tournament will have the opportunity to become Olympians in rugby in 2016.
