One Out, One in for College 7s Nats
Sevens - Collegiate Sevens

UCLA has turned down its at-large invitation to the inaugural USA Rugby college 7s national championship, making the Bruins at least the seventh team to either turn down an invitation or tell USA Rugby before one was extended that it wouldn't be accepted.

UCLA's bid has been extended to Stony Brook, runners up in Saturday's Empire 7s. Seawolves coach Jerry Mirro said prior to the tournament his team would gladly accept an invitation to the Dec. 16-17 championship event in College Station, Texas, indicating Stony Brook will likely accept the Bruins' bid.

Navy, winners of the Empire tournament, has not yet confirmed whether or not it'll accept its automatic bid. The Midshipmen have finals during the day the tournament's to be played, including the two travel days leading up to it, but a source close to the situation says the Midshipmen are trying to make it work. Navy coach Mike Flanagan told RUGBYMag.com he'd likely have an answer midweek.
