Treasure Island, Calif. - San Francisco Golden Gate ended the Olympic Club's six-game winning streak as they defeated the NorCal league leaders 31-29 Saturday.

Fielding close to their best Super League side, SFGG started well, taking an early lead on a try and after 28 minutes leading 24-3.

Olympic Club clawed back with tries from Kevin Hererra, Chris Gurecki, John Kollerer and Kort Schubert. But SFGG scored the one they needed to in the second half and just held on in an entertaining match 31-29.

"They play with a ton of width and have some serious firepower out wide," said Olympic Club head coach Ray Lehner. "Mile [Pulu] and Seta [Palamo] were a handful for us today. We needed to play our very best to beat them and we did'nt. To the contrary we got behind the 8-ball early and just didnt get enough done before the final whistle."

The game was a fundraiser for the KAM Foundation, which provided services for cancer patients and is named after the mother of Olympic Club front-rower Brian McClenahan.
