Mozzato to Coach Baltimore-Chesapeake

Baltimore, Md, July 22, 2010 - Former Italian International prop Mauro Mozzato has been named head coach of the Baltimore Chesapeake Brumbies RFC, the club announced Friday.

Mozzato had a distinguished playing career in both Italy and France where he was capped numerous times for the Azzuri. Mozzato also represented Italy in the U15, 17, 19, 21, University, and B levels. In addition to his international experience, Mozzato played for Petrarca Padova in the Italian Super League for five years and for Marseille in the French first division for two years.

While living in Canada, Mozzato coached the Canadian Woman U19s, served as assistant coach for the Ontario U14, U16, and U18 teams, and in various roles for the Barrie Rugby club based in Ontario.

BC club President James Hale said “We are extremely pleased to have Mauro join us for the upcoming season. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience both playing and coaching at the highest levels. Mauro’s passion and dedication will help develop the talent that our players possess and instill in them a life-long commitment and love of the sport of rugby.”

Mauro said he is "very happy to start this adventure that I expect will teach me at least as much as I will give. We will build a great team whose success will be measured not on big numbers on the scoreboard but on the unstoppable desire to play together."

Baltimore-Chesapeake Rugby Football Club is a Men’s Division 1 rugby team, which competes in the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union (MARFU). BCRFC is Baltimore's only premier rugby team. The Brumbies are one of the top teams in the country making the National Round of 16 in 2006 and 2007.
