Big Scores in NorCal

By RUGBYMag.com Staff

The Sacramento Capitals exacted revenge for their early-season loss to San Mateo, defeating the Bay Area club 62-12 Saturday in the California state capital.

There must be something in the grass at Luther Burbank High School, as the Caps have recorded two impressive victories at that venue.

Saturday Taylor McKillop netted two tries, seven conversions and a penalty goal for a personal haul of 27. Andrew Goodall scored three tries for the Caps, while Mark Manenica added two, and Sam Britton and Kali Afu one each.

"We were able to convert a lot of possession we've had from our set piece and turn them into points, which was very pleasing," Caps head coach Ben Parker told RUGBYMag.com. "I was also pleased to our guys play some defense. Like last week the conditions were mud underfoot and our defensive systems were solid. This week we took another step forward with players getting the reward for running the attack moves and keeping to the patterns."

The Caps improve to 2-3.

Meanwhile the Sacramento Lions slammed East Palo Alto 73-19 as EPA continues to struggle after having two of their best players suspended.

The Bay Barbarians improved to 5-2 to hold onto 2nd in the league with a 29-13 defeat of Reno.
