Belmont Shore scored a last-minute try to beat a very strong San Diego Old Aztecs team to win the Sunsplash 7s.
That victory also secured 1st place in the Southern California 7s Series for Belmont, with the Old Aztecs taking 2nd.
In the third-fourth game, it was all on the line, as the winner of that game would end up 3rd in the SoCal Series.
This was a thriller, too, as OMBAC scored late to win 14-12 over Santa Monica. Zach Pangelinan was a star for OMBAC, sidestepping his way through the defenses to set up OMBAC scores, and kicking the crucial conversions.
OMBAC will count themselves fortunate as they were almost unseated by Tempe in the quaerterfinals.
In the end, this was a very close series among the top four.
Belmont Shore finished 1st, 2nd, 2nd, and 1st in the four events.
Old Aztecs finished 3rd, 3rd, 1st, and 2nd
OMBAC finished 2nd, 4th, 3rd, and 3rd
Santa Monica finished 4th, 1st, 4th, and 4th
