Pool of Death Update
Sevens - Club Sevens

Utah still has to find a way to the Cup Round. Dobson ImagesPool A has lived up to the monicker of Pool of Death thus far Saturday, as it looks as though three of the four best teams are competing in it. At time of print, the Chicago Lions sit at 2-0, SFGG and Utah at 1-1 and Glendale at 0-2.

The Raptors are eliminated from being able to make the Cup Quarterfinals. Chicago, Utah and SFGG could all make it, or they could all miss out.

If SFGG beats Glendale, which is expected, and Chicago beats Utah, the Lions and the hosts move on. If the former happens but the Warriors upend Chicago, there will be a three-way tie to be decided by point differential.

Chicago boasts a +38 point differential, Utah a +20 and SFGG is -11.

So, if Chicago beats Utah, the Lions are the top seed out of Pool A.

If SFGG beats Glendale and Chicago wins, the hosts advance as the second team out of the pool.

If Utah wins and Glendale wins, the Warriors advance.

If Utah wins and SFGG wins, SFGG needs their victory margin and Utah's losing margin to exceed 30 points to advance to the Cup Quarters.

Pool scores
Utah 28-5 Glendale
Lions 26-12 SFGG
SFGG 22-19 Utah
Lions 31-7 Glendale
