Old Puget Sound Beach made it two titles in one day in two tournaments 260 miles from each other.
While Beach was winning the Vancouver 7s, another version of the squad was winning the Roy Lucas 7s in Portland, Ore.
Beach was hardly challenged, with only the finalists the Eastside Tsunami scoring more than seven points. OPSB defeated the Eastside Axemen 34-7 and Eugene 50-5 to win their pool. In the cup semis, they downed hosts ORSU 48-0, and then defeated the Tsunami 43-17 in the final.
The Tsunami made the final by beating the Portland Pigs B side 29-0 and Ft. Tacoma 43-5 in pool play, before handling the Portland A-side 47-5. The Axemen went on to take the Plate, with Eugene winning the Bowl. Meanwhile ORSU won the women’s bracket, losing 17-10 to Tacoma before beating Rip City 20-0 and Corvallis 37-0 to finish 2-1 in pool play. Tacoma ended up losing both their following matches, meaning it was 1-1-1 Corvallis that made the final against ORSU. The Jesters won 37-0.
