The Pacific Coast gained promotion to Tier 1 with a 34-0 shutout of the West Sunday at the National Women's All-Star Championships.

Pac Coast finished the weekend 2-0 and in convincing fashion, having defeated Eastern Development 72-8 on Friday.

Playing in the Tier 2 final, with the carrot of promotion to Tier 1 on offer, the Grizzlies got off to an e slow start as the West defense battled to keep them off the tryline.

Center San Juanita Moreno scored the first try of the day 15 minutes in, and it wasn't until the 35th minute that the Grizzlies opened it up. Wing Ardia Kelker's try, with Carrie White's conversion, made it 12-0. And then the killer blow. The Pac Coast came right back to score another - Moreno again - to put the game away just before halftime.

Kelker, Ofa Mailangi and then Parisa Asgharzadeh all touched down in the second half, as the Grizzlies looked very impressive. Moreno ended the weekend with five tries.

In the 7th/8th game, the Eastern Development team showed they had learned some harsh lessons from their 64-point loss to the Pac Coast two days before.

Paced by all-everything Penn State flyhalf Sadie Anderson, who scored two tries and two conversions, and with University of Virginia star Erica Cavanaugh scoring in the first seven minutes, Eastern Development held off a late South surge to win 24-10.

South wing Alyson Allen scored both of the South's tries.
