Canada Bows Out, But Not Bowed
Canada - Men

It could have been so much more, but Canada should be proud of their performances at the New Zealand 7s.

In the end, the Maple Leafs lost both their Day Two games, as Samoa edged them 15-12 in the Cup Quarters, and South Africa escaped 21-19 in the Plate semis.

Canada were outstanding, running with confidence and power, and tackling without reservation. They were assisted by some brilliant generalship and goalkicking from Nathan Hirayama, and the running of Taylor Paris and Sean Duke.

In the end, Hirayama's conversion to tie their match against South Africa, from the touchline mind you, hit the post.

In five matches, Canada won only two, but their three losses were by two, three and two points.

Cup QFs
Canada 12 Samoa 15
Tries: Braid, Duke
Convs: Hirayama

Plate SF
Canada 19 South Africa 21
Tries: Paris 2, Hearn
Hirayama 2
