The Louisville Rugby Old Boy’s Association has awarded $1000 dollars in scholarships and grants to four players from the 2012 Louisville rugby recruiting class. Cody Hoskins from Meade County High School receives a $700 Roger Daughtery scholarship. Hoskins was a Kentucky Rugby High School All-Star who garnered attention from USA Rugby U-17 National Team selectors and was also an All-District football player and wrestler. Hoskins chose Louisville over Ohio State. Hoskins has been accepted to the J.B. Speed Engineering School, and will use the money on a laptop computer. “This money really helps and I appreciate the support of the Old Boys, and I look forward to playing rugby at U of L,” said Hoskins. Braden Deifel (Atherton), Stephen Rand (Iroquois) and Spencer Wise (Trinity) were each awarded $100 book grants. “We’re proud to support these student-athletes as they pursue their university diploma,” said Mike Pfeffer, President of the Old Boys. “Rugby allows non-varsity athletes the opportunity to play a real sport in college, to compete for league and national championships or represent the US in international and Olympic competition.” |
