RUGBYMag All DII Team
Colleges - Men's DII College

Selecting the All DII team isn't an easy feat. We use a mix of the eye test and suggestions/nominations from coaches. Then we take that group of players and ask coaches who've played against those players who is better than who. Then we eventually have to settle on our list.

Lindenwood is very well represented on this team, and that's because they have the best player in all of DII at several positions, and in some cases, arguably the best player in all of college rugby. For instance, Morgan Findlay should be on the short list of best fullbacks in the nation regardless of division. Joe Shirley is quite good, as is flyhalf Brendan Davis.

Like in all our all-division teams, we have put some guys out of position to get them on the list. The point of naming a team like this is to recognize the best players in the country, so we have shifted some guys to positions they may not play on their team, but could play on another team or at a higher level.

One example is Central Missouri's Kyle Nixdorf. He played lock at UCM, but that's because the Mules had some capable props and he was athletic enough to play anywhere in the pack. Nick Kuhl is a flyhalf for Salisbury, but we have him at wing. He's not as strong kicking out of hand as Davis, but he deserves to be on the list. He is a four-or-five-tool player and a team lucky enough to be able to put him on the wing would be very good. Same goes for Towson's flyhalf, Christian Lowe, who we slot in at center.

Certainly, Lopeti Ofa of UVU could make an argument he should be on this list, but he was injured throughout the playoffs and we didn't get a chance to see him play healthy. Same for Cameron Loser. Texas Tech's Reid Curry is another guy we really liked, and ECU's Matt Hughston is a very good player, too.
