The brackets are not yet finalized, but we have been able to decipher a good portion of them. In DI-AA, the big news is that Arizona has been extended and at-large invitation and will host the West Region, originally set for Austin, Texas.
We have also confirmed the match-ups for the West, and Midwest remains the only region we don't have the first-round match-ups for.
The Midwest has two at-large bids to fill. Expect one to go to Northern Illinois. The other at-large bid could be the hold-up in this region, as there may not have been many qualified applicants within drivable distance from Madison. Utah Valley, Rice and Brockport are all teams who are on the bubble, but have any of them committed to traveling to Wisconsin?
In addition to Arizona and the two at-larges going to Madison, South Carolina was awarded an at-large to the region in Knoxville, Tenn. The Gamecocks finished second in the SCRC, one of the toughest DI-AA conferences in the country.
In DII, we know all the participant teams, as Illinois State, UW-Milwaukee, Towson and Norwich received the four at-large bids on offer. UW-Milwaukee and Illinois State, along with conference champ and AQ UW-Whitewater, give the WIIL three teams in the Sweet 16. Every region here is set and confirmed.
The DII Pittsburgh regions shown below are correct, despite the fact that they do not match what is available on USA Rugby's site at the time of this story's original publication.
