NCRC: Players from WWU, EWU Keep Scoring
Colleges - Men's DI College

Matt Jensen’s five tries for Western Washington University puts him in a tie with another Viking, Giovanni Trujillo for 2nd in the Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference (NCRC).

Trujillo scored three in the same match, a 94-7 rout of Boise State.

With WWU dominating the scoring in the NCRC, six of the top eight try-scorers in the league are Vikings. WWU is now 5-0 with 307 points for and 36 against.

Far and away the top scorer in the league is longtime Eastern Washington star Eric Populus. The Eagles No. 8 leads the conference with 13 tries, more than half his team’s total, and 93 points, 60% of his team’s total. Populus kicked two conversions while Cameron Bowers, Jacob Christensen and Justin Dreyer scored tries for EWU in their 19-19 tie with Oregon Saturday.

Wing Garret Reynolds scored two tries for Oregon and Tyler Bartlett scored one, with Miguel Minchin kicking two conversions.

Eastern still leads the East, now with a 3-1-1 record, just ahead of 3-2 Idaho. WWU leads the West with Washington 2nd at 4-1.

Eastern is at Western this coming weekend, but WWU has already clinched 1st place. If EWU loses and Idaho beats WSU a week later, Idaho will take 1st in the East.
