News on DI-AA Seeds, At-Large Bids
Colleges - Men's DI College

USA Rugby sent a press release in October announcing its college championship playoff brackets for the spring of 2012. The men's DI-AA bracket is not accurate. The Round of 16 match-ups are not yet determined. Yet, USA Rugby did not send out a release, or notification, that the original release contained incorrect information.

What is determined is which league winners will go where, which is listed below. The Competitions Committee will seed the regional brackets after deciding the at-large participants. In the semifinals, the winner of the Hanover region will play the winner of the Cottage Grove region, and the Palo Alto winner will play the Knoxville winner.

RUGBYMag.com has also learned the at-large teams will be placed based on both geography and seeding. If a West Coast team is selected as an at-large, it will take one of the open spots in the Palo Alto region. If two western teams were picked as at-larges, they would fill both Palo Alto slots. However, if two Eastern teams were selected, the lower "seed" of the two, as determined by the committee, would travel.

The Competitions Committee has narrowed its potential at-large teams down considerably, and is in the process of asking the possible at-large teams based in the east if they would be willing to or capable of traveling to Palo Alto, to avoid having a bid turned down.
