The newly-formed Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference (NCRC) released its 2010-11 season schedule Thursday.

The NCRC consists of nine universities in the Pacific Northwest, including two from Canada, in an unprecedented move to have a regular-season league based in the USA that involves teams from outside the country. (Canada already does this, with Seattle playing in the British Columbia men’s DI leagues.)

Central Washington will be fielding a non-CPL team in this competition. Similarly, the University of British Columbia will field their 2nd squad, the Braves, while their varsity side plays an independent schedule.

The league will use the Bonus Point system (4 pts for a win, 2 for a tie, and bonus points for a loss by 7 or less or for scoring four tries in a game).

“The Universities are keen to take part in this new competition and look to build on the branding of University Rugby programs in the Pacific Northwest to highlight Rugby as the Sport of Choice in Collegiate Athletics,” said NCRC Director Craig Brown.

The chase for the NCRC seed to the national DI playoffs will be wide open, with Oregon State, Oregon, Washington, Eastern Washington, Western Washington, a Washington State all in with an excellent shot.
