The Arizona State rugby program will enjoy a challenging 15s schedule this coming winter and spring, including games against many of North America's best teams.
The Sun Devils open the season against a seasoned St Mary’s team and then go on to play University of Victoria, UCLA (on the road) and Utah at home before they get a week off.
In addition, ASU will host BYU April 12 in the inaugural Rugby Bowl, an event Head Coach Gary Lane expects will be an annual event.
"To understand where we fit as a team we must play the best,” said Lane, who added that a formal press release on the Rugby Bowl will be forthcoming. "The amount of interest and support for this event from the community and especially Arizona State University has been amazing to me.”
After Spring Break it doesn’t look any easier for the Devils they will take on the Air Force Academy, Cal Poly, California, Oregon State in Oregon before coming home and playing their in state rivals Arizona.
This constitutes one of the most challenging schedules in the nation, with eight ranked teams, or teams soon to be ranked, on the slate."
The Sun Devils open up their schedule January 19 when they host St. Mary's.
