| Middlesex, Boston Advance in New England |
| Clubs - Men's DI Clubs |
|
Middlesex beat the Boston Irish Wolfhounds 49-44 and Boston took down Mystic River 41-5 Saturday, with both winners advancing to the DI Round of 32. Boston's back row was outstanding in the latter match, as No. 8 Brennan Moore ran in a hat trick of tries and Liam Murphy, the former U20s and Young Munster player filling in at No. 7 for Eagle John Quill, was stellar on defense. The game was tight at halftime, with Boston up just 12-0. "Mystic’s been to the Sweet 16 the last four or five years, and they know how to play in a knockout match, and our guys were a little tight," said Boston coach Mike Diamontopolous. "In the second half we opened it up a little bit." Boston takes the top seed from New England into the spring and will presumably match up against against Old Blue, and Middlesex will presumably draw Buffalo, for seeding purposes. All four teams will play in the Round of 32 and cross over against the Mid-Atlantic's representatives. |
