MW Latest, Palmer, Detroit Still Kicking
Clubs - Men's DI Clubs

The Detroit Tradesmen and Palmer College of Chiropractic are still alive.

Tradesmen battled on the road. The Tradesmen went down to Cincinnati to face the Wolfhounds, and while they came away on the short end, they did enough to stay in the playoff hunt.

Detroit took an early lead before Cincinnati reeled off 31 unanswered points. The Tradesmen came back led by good work from Adam Saad, Jason Gookie, and two-time try-scorer Kevin Krewger. That ended the game 39-26 for the Wolfhounds, who stay atop the Midwest East Pool, but a bonus point for four tries gives Detroit hope.

"We aren't out of it yet," said Tradesmen VP Ryan Koenig.

Meanwhile the 1-3 Palmer team beat Milwaukee 33-5 to move to 2-3.

“It’s not been the best of starts for us,” said player-coach Luke Stringer, referring to the first four games of the season. Palmer lost a close early match to Metropolis on National Board Exam day, and then another close one to the Chicago Lions where “we had chances, but just gave the ball away at the wrong times.”

Hit by injuries, they succumbed once again to Metropolis, “who played extremely well,” said Stringer. “And in the first 40 of this game we were horrible. But I gave the team a rollicking at halftime and we were much better. I was very pleased that we held them to just one try, and we got a bonus-point win, so that was good.

“Now we can look ahead and hopefully finish 5-3. It’s three more in the loss column than I’d like, but there you go.”

Still struggling with injuries, Palmer has had to adjust their backline, and Stringer said he may have hit on the right combinations now.

Meanwhile, Metropolis rolled, slamming the visiting Chicago Griffins, who were playing without USA Selects forwards Tim Paulsen and Graham Harriman, 53-17. The Chicago Lions remained unbeaten with a 70-5 thrashing of the Chicago Blaze.
