New Orleans got a solid away win despite having to move some players around (flyhalf Bobby Johns got some time at scrumhalf, for example). The victory clinched a home CR3 playoff place for the newly-promoted club, and now they simply have to wait to see what the Atlanta Renegades will do. The Renegades have three matches left, one of which is in New Orleans and will likely decide who wins the league. (Tampa Krewe withdrew from the South DI partway through the season. We have not, as yet, received official notice of what will happen with their results - whether they are all thrown out or if the remaining matches will be listed as forfeits.) In Texas, the Austin Huns won their second in a row, improving to 2-4 and putting them, now, within shouting distance of 3rd, and the 2nd playoff spot (Dallas Harlequins won't play in the playoffs). The top-two playoff spot is key, as it guarantees a home playoff game. Austin won 29-10 against Dallas, but Head Coach Lachlan Ferguson wasn't overly thrilled with the result. His forwards have played better, the coach said, and the backs weren't fully clicking. However, it's worth pointing out that the Austin backline was almost completely revamped, with just about every player in a new position. Still, Austin has clinched the top playoff spot with the victory. Even if they lose their remaining three matches, and Dallas RFC wins all three, or Austin Huns win their remaining four, Austin cannot be caught. In Northern California, The Sacramento Lions, a top playoff team last year that has added a couple of Sacramento Capitals talents, is now 2-0 and looking solid. The Sacramento Capitals, which underwent a political upheaval we don't have space to go into here, is still in DI, but struggling. Olympic Club still hasn't played a game in the league, as they won a forfeit last week and played (and lost to) the SFGG Super League team this week. They will play the EPA Bulldogs next week in what is anything but a gimme game. In SoCal, Belmont Shore won easily, and OMBAC won a knock-down drag-out clash with Santa Monica to grip 2nd a little more tightly. Zach Pangelinan was, yet again, superb for OMBAC. The big results are further down the list. Las Vegas continues to struggle, but are close. They lost 36-35 to Los Angeles in LA. Not a disaster for the Blackjacks, as they garnered two bonus points from the game. Las Vegas needs to start winning if they want to make the playoffs, though. The April 14 match between Back Bay and Las Vegas in Sin City could well decide who gets that final playoff spot. March 3 DI Club scores New Orleans 26-7 Charlotte

New Orleans, Austin Blacks, and Belmont Shore all won comfortably, even if they weren't overjoyed with their performances Saturday to stay undefeated in DI club action.
