The Sacramento Lions opened their NorCal DI league account with an impressive 28-10 defeat of SFGG on Treasure Island.

In an exciting encounter, the Lions took charge in the second half.

SFGG came back, weathering the bone-jarring Sacramento hits to tie the game 5-5.

It could have been more, as a Sacramento player was yellow carded for not wrapping up in the tackle. But the Lions defense held and half time arrived with the teams deadlocked.

Sacramento took a slim three-point lead early in the second half, with Epeli Uluiviti slotting the kick. And they built on that. Wayne Koi scored a try while Dennis Saafi and Viliami Finau led the defensive effort. SFGG scored one try, but Koi scored once more and Uluiviti kicked two more penalties to finish the scoring 28-10.

In other play around the NCRFU the EPA Bulldogs beat the Sacramento Capitals 65-15 and San Mateo defeated the Bay Barbarians 35-10. Olympic Club won by forfeit as the EPA Razorbacks could not field a full team.
