Mystic Wins Northeast
Clubs - Men's DI Clubs

Paced by 11 points from the boot of 17-year-old hooker Chris Laughlin, Mystic River defeated the Boston Irish Wolfhounds 21-7 to win the Northeast DI Club Championship.

BIW led 7-0 for much of the first half, as the Wolfhounds forwards did a superb job disrupting Mystic possession in the breakdown.

But some refinements up front opened up the game a little bit, and Mystic pressure forced penalties that Laughlin was only too happy to convert. The hooker hit three penalties, and then converted one of the two Mystic tries.

"We have some very good backs," said co-head coach Jake Sprague. "But the key is to get good, clean ball from the breakdown and from set piece. The Wolfhounds disrupted our ball and made it tough for us. At halftime it seemed like we were a little asleep, but we picked it up and turned the game around."

Along with Laughlin's kicks, Mystic got tries from Chris Tofte and Jamie Green to complete the comeback.
