The Boston Irish Wolfhounds are into the Northeast DI club final after beating Long Island 29-8.

The crowd at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton, Mass., enjoyed the match, but BIW Head Coach Head Coach David Gonzales didn’t so much.

“We didn’t have a lot of continuity and I thought the game was a bit sloppy,” Gonzales told RUGBYMag.com. “I do felt we left some points out there. Long Island was certainly big and powerful and had a great rolling maul, but our support play wasn’t good.”

Center Tom Walsh and Alex Verdaguer were both strong for the BIW, but Gonzales lamented the fact that when they made breaks, the rest of the team wasn’t in support the way he wanted.

The Wolfhounds will play New York for the Northeast top spot next week. NYRFC needed overtime to put away a tenacious South Shore club (the club BIW’s Gonzales helped found).

South Shore led with a minute to go in regulation when New York scored to tie the game. Then both teams scored in OT, with New York getting the key conversion to win 32-30.
