UPDATE: Most of the reports did not have this completely right and we apologize for passing that info on. The basics of the story - who did what, who was arrested, and why they are arrested, are correct.
The background to the story is not right.
The NYPD did play a game, against the Edinburgh Three Rifles, won by NYPD. However, the players involved were with another toring side, the Royal Scotland Regiment. The players arrested were never expected to play the NYPD team, and the NYPD rugby team were not connected with them.
