Basauri Enjoying Locking Up
International - Americans Overseas

Always a smile. Basauri, right, with a Russian counterpart at the 2011 RWC. David Benton photo.Perigueux won only their second game of the season in France's Pro D2, defeating Dax 23-18.

Starting at lock forward was USA flanker Inaki Basauri, who has cemented a regular place on the club in the back five of the scrum.

"Things are going good," Basauri told RUGBYMag.com. "I have have started the last five games and played the full 80."

This weekend's start was his sixth in a row, and he was subbed off with five minutes to go. Basauri said lock is relatively new to him, but he has enjoyed it. Still a source of strength in the lineout and on restarts, Basauri will have some work to do in the scrums.

Perigueux is now 2-9, and still last in the 16-team tier two league in France. The victory puts Perigueux just one point behind Beziers for 15th.

Lions 2013 Tour Schedule Out
Blog - RugbyMag.com Blog

British & Irish Lions Manager Andy Irvine announced Monday, November 28 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff the 10-match tour schedule for the highly anticipated tour to Australia in 2013.

The British & Irish Lions and the Australian Rugby Union have agreed a programme of nine matches for the Tour in Australia, including three Test matches. The Lions will also play a first-time match in Hong Kong against the famous Barbarians Club on their way to Australia.

Commenting on the Lions 2013 schedule, Tour Manager Andy Irvine said, “The Lions receive numerous requests to play matches around the world outside of the traditional tour destinations of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. For 2013 we had the perfect opportunity to play a match in the developing rugby region of Asia, while at the same time break the long journey from Europe to Australia. As has become customary we also wanted 10 matches to maximize the essential pre-Test series build up.”

The last tour by the Lions to Australia was in 2001, when the Lions played 10 matches including three Tests. They won seven matches, including the First Test against the Wallabies, and lost three. These defeats were against Australia A and the Wallabies in the Second and Third Tests. The vital Third Test was won by the Wallabies 16–13 at Stadium Australia, Sydney, in front of a crowd of 84,188 to clinch the series.

Fans can now guarantee their place on the Lions Tour with Lions Rugby Travel, the official travel company of the British & Irish Lions (http://www.lionstour.com). The official Lions travel company will offer fans an unprecedented range of official ticket inclusive packages from fully escorted tours through to return international flights and match ticket options.

College Combines Free to HS Participatints!
Colleges - Camps & Clinics

Ray Peterson, President of American Rugby Management Group, today announced that the nationwide Collegiate Recruitment and Combine Programs will be FREE to all participants who Pre-Register at rugbyrecruiting.com.  Participants who walk up and register on site will be charged a $15 administrative fee.

“This dynamic and incredibly valuable Program is a tool for high school athletes to expand their college selection opportunities.  In consideration of the intent to support our young high school boys and girls and to provide college coaches a more robust database for evaluations, ARMG has waived the fees for the 2011-12 Series.  The original fee was $25 per athlete, now waived.  The walk up fee will be $15, so the athletes should pre register online.  College representatives will be on site to present their schools and answer questions from the athletes and their parents.  Each college attending the CRCP will also be linked for access by all CRCP participants throughout the year.  This fee waiver is primarily made possible by the support of our key sponsors, adidas, Royall Lyme and World Rugby Shop and ARMG strongly encourages the rugby constituency to support these sponsors throughout the year.”

The CRCP is a series of combines that high school rugby players attend to participate in a series of measured drills and physical tests, and also to meet with college rugby coaches to discuss whcih college and which rugby program would be best for them.

Razorbacks to 7s Nats, One Spot Left
Sevens - Collegiate Sevens

The Navy Midshipmen have declined an automatic bid to the inaugural college 7s national championships in College Station, Texas Dec. 16-17 because the event clashes with the Naval Academy's final exams schedule and was never on the team's budget. The Midshipmen won the automatic bid by claiming the Empire 7s title earlier this month.

Navy becomes at least the 11th team (UCLA, Boston College, Penn State, Dartmouth, Utah, LSU, Delaware, Bowling Green, Iowa and BYU are the confirmed others) who either turned down a bid to the championships or made it clear to the board they would do so if offered one.

Arkansas, who finished fourth at SEC 7s, have been extended an at-large invite to the championships and are expected to accept. That leaves one more bid to be claimed. Nebraska is expected to receive that offer. If the Huskers turn it down, the competitions committee will have to go back to the drawing board.
