Men's Player of the Week, Sept. 27, 2012
Colleges - Men's DI College

For the second week in a row, Middlebury fullback Allan Stafford bagged three tries in one game. This time he did it in the biggest upset of the week in college rugby, scoring all three tries in the Panthers’ 23-20 defeat of Northeastern.

“He’s a tremendous athlete,” said Middlebury coach John Phillips of Stafford. “He’s a beautiful runner. Great under the high ball. Very, very good tackler. The kid is just outstanding, and he’s got amazing speed. He glides.”

Stafford came to Middlebury having never played rugby, but he’s taken to the game so quickly his teammates have dubbed him ‘The Natural’. With six tries in two games this season, and two very close games, the nickname has been well earned so far.

Middlebury now sits in second in the East Coast standings behind American International College. The two undefeated teams are scheduled to clash Oct. 27.
