The HSAA team defeated a solid Washington state Loggers team 28-0 with tries from Mike Reid, Jesse Mander, Calvin Whiting and Mitch Guzman.

Washington battled but were well bottled up by the HSAA squad.

Meanwhile BC, which had lost 19-17 to Ontario in pool play, beat their intra-country rivals 19-12.

“With each game we’re getting better,” said Spencer Miller. “We were more switched on the second time. We played like a team, played our game. We were more comfortable with each other. To play in the stadium is pretty exciting. To play on the same field that the professionals play on is an honor.”

As for the HS All Americans, they knew they would have a tough test against Washington.

“Coming out on top I was happy,” said Calvin Whiting. “A lot of those guys come from the All American foundation, so they are tough. But we’ve come together quite nicely over the last few days. The guys would all take bullets for one another, we’ve really bonded.”

Being in the stadium is, for the Americans, too, an exciting development.

“It’s going to be amazing. Playing in front of a big crowd is always good. And for me as a player it’s incredible to say as a player to say you’ve been where those international players have been,” said Whiting.

The High School All Americans face British Columbia at 2:56 PM PST.
