The IRB has confirmed the pool draw for round 7 of the HSBC Sevens World Series, the Tokyo Sevens on 31 March - 1 April 2012.
The draw was made live on television before the Cup final of the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, the sixth round of the 2011/12 season, won by Fiji.
As Hong Kong champions, Fiji top pool A at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Ground but they face a tough trio of matches against England, France and hosts, Japan.
New Zealand reached their fifth Cup final of the Series in Hong Kong and, as runners-up, head Pool B and face matches against great rivals Australia, USA and Hong Kong.
This is a good draw for the USA, which has struggled of late, but has shown enough flashes that they could secure wins over Hong Kong and, on a good day, Australia. If they do that, they can make their first Cup Round of the season.
The USA opens up against New Zealand in the first match of the tournament, at 10am local time Saturday, (6pm PT, 9pm ET Friday night, March 30). Then they take on Australia at 1:57pm local time (9:57pm PT Friday, or 12:57am ET Saturday), and finish up at 4:35pm against Hong Kong (12:35am PT or 3:35am ET Saturday morning).
Argentina were drawn top of Pool C and they face matches against Wales, Kenya and Russia.
South Africa, who finished third in Hong Kong, headed the draw in Pool D, where they will face Samoa, Scotland and Portugal.
