Arkansas State knocked Life from its perch Saturday, beating the then top-ranked Running Eagles 28-22 in Jonesboro, Ark. Cal, who has posted as dominant scores as ever this season, takes its rightful place at No. 1. The Bears have faced tougher competition the last few weeks, playing UCLA, Arizona, Penn State and Oregon State, and they’ve emerged impressively unscathed.

The Red Wolves jump up to No. 2 with their win over Life. They will get another test this weekend when Davenport, who beat the Chicago Lions on the weekend, travels to Jonesboro.

The biggest upset of the season so far, or at least the most high profile upset, was UCLA’s 50-38 defeat of Utah Saturday in Westwood. The Bruins jump up 8 spots for the win, and Utah falls below UCLA and Central Washington. The Wildcats have won big in every game this season, including over teams like Oregon State and Northern Colorado.

Further down the list, San Diego bumps up a few spots on the back of a four-game winning streak. And Texas A&M supplants Delaware. The Blue Hens lost to DII Salisbury Friday, and earlier this spring they fell to Life by a margin similar to DI-AA Tennessee and Florida State. Texas A&M has rebounded from some big losses in the preseason to go 3-0 in the Allied Rugby Conference, and they've won by comfortable margins in all of those league games.

Navy keeps on winning in the ACRL, having pitched two shutouts in three league games. But the Midshipmen aren't helped by the teams they're beating. No ACRL team has won a DI-AA playoff game in the history of the conference. That, combined with a loss to Air Force in the fall, keeps Navy from climbing. The Zoomies beat Navy, Arizona beat the Zoomies and Arizona State beat Arizona, which is why that stretch of the rankings looks the way it does.
