Westerville is getting no respect...they lost on a penalty kick in their regionals, but absolutely dominated all the other teams they played, including the defending HS champs while on tour. There's so much talk of Liberty, but they didn't win their regionals, their states, or (as far as we know) any ranked teams on tour. Not sure why they ranked so high?

Regardless of where Liberty is ranked (they're an excellent program, excellent team, and excellent competitors) I believe that The Barbarian team that defeated liberty for the WA state championship was absolutely unbeatable at that place in time. We played exactly like we played all year, after dropping only our first match, with class, confidence, and determination. I take nothing away from Liberty, or any other WA club, but Budd Bay is at the top because they played their way there and refused to accept any other outcome.

As with most youth sports rankings, this is just a "feel good" activity that shouldn't be taken too seriously. Really, no science involved. If you are truly disappointed and devastated by where your club is ranked, then you need to put more effort into your local club and less into your clubs "national ranking". If you're a kid, I understand the emotion, but if you're an adult, get a perspective and show some maturity. Geoff runs a magazine and this is just something to perk up everyone's interest and drive them to the website. And nothing wrong with that either. In the end, whatever it takes to improve rugby for our youth in the USA is a good thing, and if it distracts from that goal, screw it. It's ALWAYS about the boys & girls. So if a low ranking motivates your club, just say THANKS Geoff. Or just make your own ranking since it's as legitimate as any other.
