Great program in its 2nd year. Hopefully the city will allocate more money to this 'fully sanctioned sport' to allow more public school students the opportunity to play rugby. There are numerous other schools that want to be affiliated with the PSAL, yet a lack of funding has not allowed the program to take off to the heights that the demand asks for.

Regarding questions of "where to": the PSAL will likely remain 7's as a spring sport but feeds into borough based clubs run by PRUSA that compete in a summer 7's series with the broader rugby community. These clubs will also morph into 10s and 15s over time. It is much harder to do 15s through the PSAL as the teams have to be coached by public school teachers, most of whom are completely new to rugby. Therefore, 7's becomes the gateway for participation and also creates new rugby coaches, with the clubs being the development pathway.
