Westcoast- I don't know where you get your info but you should check it. Santa Monica did not go undefeated, not even close, neither did Belmont. Las Vegas had no RSL players who came in at any time. As for the coach leaving, you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Belmont, OMBAC and SM all left RSL due to money issues, not because they couldn't compete. In closing, everything you wrote is wrong.

belmont shore is stacked with talent and should win out....division one is thiers to lose...glendale is all hype...they have lost five or six players the past two years to other RSL clubs - even with some aspen talent - I am betthing the average age of the glendale starting 15 is around 31, 32 yrs old..which also makes them old..

@westcoastrugby , not sure where you get your information from but you couldn't be more wrong about vegas' run last year through the playoffs. We did not have any RSL players on our roster...it remained the same the entire season except one addition at flanker who happened to return from AFG just prior to the CIPP deadline. Our coaach did not up and run off to coach in the RSL as soon as he could, quite contrary to that and for reasons those that know Jason and his family well, which also was covered out of respect in rugby forums, left to go back home after a family tragedy. We took a team of guys who have been playing well together for years and played through four undefeated teams and the #1 sides from all four of the brackets to earn our championship, something that escaped us in the finals the year before. Aside from the BS this season has caused don't be ignorant and assume things you don't know.

@West Coast Rugby, The difference between RSL and DI rugby is simple, One is called RSL and the other....DI. Other than that its anyones game when you step on that field. Provo played Pugent south in the 2010 Las Vegas 7's invitational and did very well against a team that is now advancing into the RSL playoffs. Provo also possesed the ball 60 minutes out of 80 in that match. Bottom line is rugby is always going to be rubgy. Many of the National players are selected from RSL, DI and D2. We have always been a rough team. Sure we made it to sweet sixteen twice in the last three years, We are more excited that we are competing on a higher level. So West Coast Rugby, whatever your quarrels may be with provo, you should take it the field. Good day to you.

Why is it that the Provo Steelers are always brought up? I see no reason why they should even be mentioned in this thread. Betterment of rugby in Utah as a whole will only help every team involved (yes, even the Steelers). Where does the animosity felt toward the Provo team come from? (Mr. Whalen would you like to take that one?) Provo is exciting. What they lack in game strategies, they more than make up for in passion and love for the game. They play hard and are fun to watch. Rugby is supposed to equal fun. If not something is wrong.

... and then got beat in the round of 32. Except for Belmont. You're argument that any RSL team would "stonewall" any D1 team is flawed. Three teams that were RSL are out of the playoffs BEFORE the Sweet 16 (kinda proves islander13's point) so I guess that's not true. Your own reference to last year's playoffs only helps my argument. Las Vegas was NOT RSL and won the whole thing by beating Belmont Shore. RSL is better because of coaching, time and money. A D1 team may be lucky to have 2-3 top tier players because they can't pay them. The teams that do pay... get the better players. Same for coaching. If you took a top D1 team and gave them top level coaching, many of them would hold their own (at least in SoCal)... give them money to hire 2-5 players and the competition is even tighter. Get rid of the pay to play in D1 (and below) and RSL would be even better.

Nobody (aptly named) - and why do you think they dropped out? Last year Santa Monica and Belmont shore both went undefeated in the regular season. Vegas was carried to a victory by Super League players and a coach that jumped up to the Super League as quickly as the opportunity came up. In 2009 Santa Monica went 2 - 5 in the SL, but dominated the next year in D1. Your argument is weak. The Northside Tigers beat the so-called top team in Utah's Men's D1 and then got pounded by Belmont. Granted, there are a few D1 teams that could hold their own in the Super League but week in and week out its not even close.
