You don't think Dan Payne cares about turning his players from boys into men? Watch the players from underprivileged backgrounds that he is bringing into his program and watch how they develop as rugby players and people. Do I think academically that Life can be compared to Cal? Not close. But the real education these guys are getting at Life is from being a part of the rugby team. And, by the way, Cal is up 24-3 as I write this.

Life's gonna get stomped on today. I support and like both of these teams, Dan Payne's coached against them a couple times at SDSU when he coached there, but Life's players haven't and wont know what to expect until its too late. Maybe in a couple years, if their program is still strong they might have a shot, but i don't think today will be that day.

Looks like Cal will acquire yet another rival today... ;) And if Jack Clark's comment about starting their best XV is true, then this game might just be more of a beating than CPDfan speculates ...

First, to even compare Life's undergraduate program to UC Berkeley's is absurd. However, I will let that slide. My point is that some of you posters are overly sensitive. Jack Clark's mission as a head coach is to turn boys into men, who can go out into the world with their shoulders back with focus and determination. He cares little about winning and more about transforming lives. So relax about his statement and cool it on your assumptions. He was merely stating that the men on the his team are under much stress during finals week at one of the top ranked public universities in the world. Enough said.

As young as Life University's team is, mostly freshmen and sophomores, look at their end of year league statistics....and those are only based on a six match schedule. No question, the pressure today is on Cal, and they had better be ready, because I have a feeling that Life is coming out west to bring it to them, and leave it all on the field, win or lose today. This one may be closer than folks want to give them credit for.

yeah, lets compare an undergrad program at cal to those guys in the dc program and pre-dc program at life. Having done a dc and juggled rugby with it I can say cal has zero on the boys from Marietta from a classroom perspective. they are all hard workers. here is what I really do not like about this article. its basically a pre-written butt whipping summary that the writer assumes will be delivered on Sat by Cal. Maybe the case but life is a really good team. Much betth than this article has given them credit for. I guess we forget the 31-17 navy game. Not sure how Army and Navy are held in high regaurd when life is seemingly not and has beaten one and would beat the other. If not for a really poor first half they would be hosting St. Mary today in ATL. Would love to see them win but with all the youth would also be happy to have a close game.
