Davenport beat Minnesota 27-0 and also beat Kansas State 44-5. The game against Minnesota was miserable but the second game against Kansas wasn't as bad. It was sunny and windy.

With two minutes left in the K-State/Texas State game the ref disallowed a 70 meter try by Gailbraith because the ref did not allow the Texas State advantage to continue. Then the ref was asked why he did not blow the play dead before the try. His explanation was and I quote "I don't have to blow the whistle to make a play dead!"

Update for those interested: Texas State fell to K-State 10-6 after leading 3-0 at half. I heard it was an unusually miserably cold wet and windy match. As bandit mentioned Davenport handled Minnesota, and the beat K-State by a very large margin - sry didnt get the exact score. In the consolation match, Texas State went up 24-0 at half and were helped by a hat trick of tries my flanker Jeff Easthagen. After one of the back for State - Gailbraith binned for a high tackle. During the ten minutes Minn. started to mount a comeback scoring two unconverted tries. After Gailbreaith's return State was able to slow the bleeding and staved off Minnesota's comeback allowing only one try.

It wasn't close, 27-0 Davenport. It was cold, windy, rain, soft hail, snow flurries and then a pouring rain. If the conditions were better, Davenport could have scored 21 more points.

Another common opponent for Minnesota and Davenport was Purdue. We played both of these teams in the fall, although the game against Minnesota wasn't a full 80 minutes due to it being in the Big Ten Tournament. We lost in a close match to Minnesota 26-21. Then later in the fall we played Davenport and lost 21-0, though it was a much closer game than the score indicated with two Purdue tries being called back.
